In 1971 the Los Angeles area had what was known as the Sylmar earthquake. That immediately started me thinking, "Where would I be now if I would have been one of those killed in the earthquake." Just a short time later, the Lord Jesus came into my heart and started working in my life.
While attending the First American Indian Church of Los Angeles, California, Duane Anderson encouraged me to attend the American Indian Bible Institute and so I did. The years passed and the church used me in various ways: a Sunday School teacher, a trustee and a deacon. When my secular employment ended, I went into full-time ministry, ministering to the urban Indians east of Los Angeles in Pomona, San Bernardino and Riverside.
In 1989, the Lord sent me to my home, Arizona, to minister to my people. The Gila River Indians including the tribes of Pima, Maricopa and Yavapai. I began helping the Gila Crossing Presbyterian Church. During that time I had the opportunity to hold revivals in several different churches. For a period of time, I also had the opportunity to share in the preaching at 5 different churches as part of a team of six men who were preaching in these five churches that did not have pastors.
In 1995, I began working with the Maricopa Indian First Presbyterian Church. In 1998, the M.I.P.C. called me to be their pastor. By prayer, I knew that the Lord was calling me to be their pastor. It was my first experience to pastor a church.
My wife Gerri and I currently live in the Chandler, Arizona area on the Gila River Reservation. I also have home Bible studies in homes of those who desire Bible studies in their homes. |
